Armada Ski Mounting Guide

Everything you need to know about mounting your new Armada Skis.

HOW TO MOUNT YOUR SKIS.

We get a lot of questions about where to mount bindings on skis, and there’s no right or wrong answer. It’s ultimately a matter of personal preference relating to skiing style and what performance characteristics you’re looking to maximize. Check out the guide below to choose the right mount point for you.

FACTORY RECOMMENDED

Every Armada ski comes with a “Factory Recommended” mounting point marked on the topsheet, which indicates where your boot center is placed when clicked into the binding. The Factory recommended point is where our engineers suggest mounting your boot center for ideal all mountain performance.

Pros: Better flotation in deep snow, more high-speed stability, better carving performance

Cons: Reduced maneuverability, less balanced feel in the air and while skiing switch

Who’s it for: Skiers who spend most of their time skiing forwards and who ski with a traditional stance with a lot of shin pressure on the front of the boot (e.g., racers and directional chargers)

FREESTYLE RECOMMENDED

Some ARMADA skis, (all ARV/ARW, Whitewalker, and Magic J UL) come with a second line marked “Freestyle Recommended” or “Sammy’s Recommended” in the case of the Whitewalker. This line is further forward than the “Factory Recommended” line and is the suggested mount point for more freestyle-influenced skiers.

Pros: Increased maneuverability, more playful and balanced feel in the air and while skiing switch

Cons: Less flotation in deep snow, less stability at speed, reduced carving performance

Who’s it for: Skiers who prioritize a balanced feel and swingweight and who bring a freestyle-influenced approach to their skiing with a neutral stance and less shin pressure on the front of the boot (e.g., park skiers and playful all-mountain skiers)

OTHER MOUNTING POINTS

It’s not required to mount your boot center directly on one of the suggested mount points. You may choose a point in front of, behind, or in between suggested points based on your style and how you want the ski to perform.

Generally, mounting further forward towards the center of the ski enhances freestyle performance with a balanced playful feel, while mounting further back enhances high speed stability and improves flotation in deep snow for directional skiing.

Many park skiers choose to mount their skis “true center” with the boot center located at the actual center of the ski. This isn’t marked on the topsheet but is a popular choice for freestyle performance. Pick what works for you.

No matter what binding mount location you choose, ensure all binding mount screws are within 25cm, in front of or behind, the “Factory Recommended” line marked on the topsheet to ensure binding retention.
