Health, Sustainability & Responsibility

Holding ourselves accountable.

Armada was founded on the principle of embracing possibility and creativity, and we’ve never abandoned that mentality. We believe skiing and snowboarding are for everybody, but that hasn’t always been the case. Frankly, women, people of color and those who may not fit into a narrowly defined identity have been woefully underrepresented in our communities. That has to change.

For too long, Armada’s been on the sidelines, but we want to be part of the solution to achieving more equity in the mountains. That means challenging the conception of who skiers and snowboarders are and providing opportunity to those who’ve been ignored and excluded.

To that end, we partner with organizations that share our mission to increase access to skiing and leave the community better than we found it like Alpine Initiatives, SOS Outreach, High Fives Foundation and the Peanut Butter Club. Skiing and Snowboarding have the potential to change lives, and we want to share the experience with as many people as possible.

SUSTAINABILITY

We recognize our ethical responsibility to protect the resources that allow us to do what we love and preserve them for future generations.

Skiing and snowboarding aren’t zero-impact activities, but Armada is committed to doing what we can to reduce our footprint through numerous initiatives.

We use sustainable and environmentally-friendly materials where possible, whether it’s the Oeko-Tex standard 100 fabrics in all our outerwear—Armada is also a Bluesign Systems Partner—or the lightweight Caruba wood cores in many of our skis and snowboards, which regrows in a fraction of the time traditional poplar and ash wood does. Our production facilities have invested over €1.3 million to reduce energy needs. We’re not perfect, but we’re looking for solutions and investing the effort and resources to do better.

As individuals, the primary thing we can do is consume less. That’s why above all, we’re dedicated to building the highest performing, most durable gear you can find. The more days you’re able to ski on your gear, the fewer products you need to buy, the less packaging and shipping is required, and the smaller impact we all have in the end.
